Beyond the telescope

Astronomy made me pay attention to light; photography made me pay attention to almost everything else. These photographs are from my earlier website, from observatories, walks, wildlife encounters, and Edinburgh skies.

Milky Way over the Tibetan Plateau — Under the night sky on the Tibetan Plateau.

Outside work I enjoy hiking, bouldering, table tennis, and music. My earlier site also records volunteering with wildlife conservation groups in China — another way of learning to look closely at the world.
